These terms cover the use of portolan.studio. Each project is covered by the written agreement we sign with the client; where that agreement and this page differ, the agreement applies.
Prices
Prices on this site are in Canadian dollars and do not include applicable taxes. They are starting points: the price of a project is the fixed price in its written quote.
How projects work
- Payment is 50% to start and 50% on delivery. Projects over $15,000 are split into three milestones.
- Two rounds of revisions are included. Films include one revision on the final cut.
- Changes to the scope are agreed in writing before work on them begins.
- Once the final payment is made, you own the work we made for you and its files. We may show the finished work in our portfolio unless we agree otherwise.
- Third-party items, such as fonts, music licences, hosting and app store fees, follow their own licences and are listed in the quote.

The text, design and code of this site belong to Portolan Studio. Work shown in the portfolio belongs to the studio and its clients; please do not copy it without permission. We are not responsible for the content of other sites we link to.
Liability
This site is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from its use.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
